new music-shiny toy guns

So whats goin on guys?
I know this post is right after my last one but I had to let you know about my favorite record to come out recently. Its by the band Shiny Toy Guns and the album is Season of Poison. I'm pretty into this right now because unlike a regular rock band they mix a little bit of an electro sound in. Although not as much as their last album, which was close to being a dance record. Shiny Toy Guns also has this great dynamic of having two lead singers, a male and a female. So in some songs he is the lead, in others she does the lead vocals, and the rest they both sing. All of the songs flow well with each other but it is not like an unfolding story. Each song is separate story in itself. What I like about Season of Poison over their last album We Are Pilots, is that the lyrics on this album make more sense to me. What I mean by that is on We Are Pilots the lyrics didn't seem to contribute to the song as a whole making the meaning of the song unclear. I guess they were trying to be techno artsy. I'm happy they got the message that for this album the best way to write a song is from real life experiences. So this album is more personal and heartfelt for them. Although my criticism for Season of Poison is that there are a few songs on the album that are a little boring and just seem to drag on. Don't get me wrong I love a ballad, their last song Frozen Oceans, is a great example of a good ballad, but there are a few songs, like Season of Love and It Became a Lie on You that don't seem to go anywhere. For the whole song they play the same tired chords and melodies. Other than that, this is a great album to play while doing homework, walking to class, and would even be a great addition to any party playlist.
P.S. my favorite song is Ghost Town

Hey everyone

Hi guys,
I'm Kristen and I'm a sophmore at Pace University in New York City. Its pretty cool to go to school in dowtown Manhattan. Here there is no typical college campus its just a couple of large buildings on a regular city street. This is a much different experience for me than last year. I actually transfered to Pace from Desales University which is in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvannia. It was a nice campus, very small, and there was a whole lot of nothing that went on there. So everyone knew each other but most of the kids that went there lived in the area so they all went home on the weekends, and since I am from Virginia I did not. For me the weekends were pretty desolate. No parties and no place to go. So its safe to say that I am much happier at Pace. My school is filled with all different types of people which makes for a good time.
Second semester just started and I think my classes are gonna be pretty cool. I'm taking media and communications classes, and my professor for pop culture is teaching the entire class with the help of Buffy the Vampire Slayer the TV show. Its pretty rad. I'm looking foward to talking to all of you this semester and will totally keep you guys up to date on what is going on in my life at the moment. Talk to you later, I'm going to hang with my friend in Brooklyn.
Peace,
Kristen
